MuseData Sources

The sources from which MuseData scores have been encoded include early prints and manuscripts as well as newly edited sources.

Collected editions of the works of one composer can consist of dozens of volumes. For works based on older materials, publishers' names and volume numbers are generally indicated in the data files.

Period prints (RISM series A/I) are identified by their RISM print number: http://www.rism.harvard.edu/rism/publications.html#Series A Manuscript sources are identified by their RISM library siglum: www.rism.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/zform.CGI?RISMLibDir Editors are identified by name in each MuseData file. Musical data specialists, who encode the musical data from the printed version, are identified by name in each MuseData file.
